Frequently Asked Questions

Can I sign up for more than one master class?

No. Choose the masterclass that best meets your needs and work with that instructor all week. You will get to know the other faculty members during our panel discussions and informal gatherings, so you will benefit from their expertise and networks as well.

Will I need to send a writing sample to be accepted into the program?

All the masterclasses ask for a writing sample or a segment of work in progress, but this is not required for acceptance. It is meant to give your faculty member a way to get to know your writing style in advance.

How do I know my registration has been processed?

Once you have registered online and paid the workshop fee, you will receive a confirmation email that provides a code to register for an agent consultation if you so desire. If needed, we will send you further details about how to prepare for the workshop.

Will there be class assignments?

Each faculty member has a unique approach to his or her class, but there could be reading, writing and/or reworking of pieces outside of class sessions. We have structured the schedule so that your mornings free to write, meet with your faculty member or an agent, discuss with your fellow writers, wander the streets of Paris, or sip coffee in a café in search of inspiration. Most of your evenings are free after 7:00pm.

What if I have to cancel my participation?

We hope this doesn't happen, but, if needed, PWW can provide a full refund until April 1 and a 50% refund from April 1 until April 15 (less a 100-euro administration fee). Unfortunately, no refunds are possible after April 15, 2026.

How do I sign up for an agent consultation?

You can sign up for an agent consultation on the PWW registration page after you have registered for your masterclass. You'll receive a code in your masterclass confirmation letter which you will need to register with either agent. The cost for a 15-minute consultation is 70 euros. If you wish (and if a time slot is available), you can book a meeting with both agents, as they have different areas of focus. The meeting time will not interfere with your masterclass. You will be able to provide material to the agent in advance.

All other meals are at your discretion. There are many restaurants (tipping is optional in France), grocery stores, and bakery/pastry/sandwich shops within walking distance of the workshop. If you plan to attend the Wednesday "Paths to Publishing" midday session, don't forget to bring your lunch!

What are some transportation tips?

Paris is an easy city to navigate. It is excellent for walking and offers a vast network of public transportation, including the métro (subway), buses, and rental bicycles. You can obtain métro tickets or a weekly pass at any métro station.

If you are flying to Paris, you will land at Charles de Gaulle or Orly airport. Taxis from the airport into the city are regulated, so the fare is set in advance: from Orly it's currently 36 to 45 euros and from CDG 56 to 65 euros. Tipping is optional. Just be sure to find an official taxi line. Don't accept a ride from anyone asking, "Want a taxi?"

At all the major train stations, you will find métro stations, buses, and taxis.  UBER is also prominent in Paris.
