Create a Surrealist Short Film Using Only Your Smartphone

Step into a playful, imaginative workshop where we’ll blend everyday Paris footage with dreamlike visuals to create a short surrealist video - all edited on your phone using CapCut, a powerful (and free!) mobile app.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to:

• Think Like a Director: Discover how to plan, shoot, and frame your shots with intention, using Paris as your canvas.
• Mix Reality & Imagination: you’ll film one simple video clip and transform it into surreal scenes using layering, masking, speed changes, and creative transitions. You’ll build a mini film with a whimsical, cinematic feel.

This workshop is best for students who have already taken Cathleen's other video course, Shoot, Edit, Wow: A Creative Video Workshop With Your Phone. 

Requirements:

• Download CapCut on your smartphone before the event
• Some tech-savviness or a quick-learning mindset is helpful
• Guided workshop; techniques are simple but need a bit of practice (difficulty: 6/10)
• Please note: this workshop works best for iPhone users, as this is the format the instructor knows best. Non-iPhone users are welcome with the caveat that Cathleen is not very familiar with Android phone settings.
