Come prepared to discuss:

Les Rois maudits, volume 4, La Loi des mâles.

June 1316. Louis X the Quarrelsome has just died of poisoning. For the first time in three hundred years, a Capetian king has died without a son to succeed him. This fourth volume of The Accursed Kings brings to life the fierce struggles that will be fought to seize the Regency. It is the brother of the dead king, the Count of Poitiers, who prevails. To prepare for his accession to the throne, he relies on a certain Salic law, the “law of males,” which will henceforth constitute the rules of succession for the French monarchy.
