The Italians call it bocce.  The Spanish call it bocha. Here it's called pétanque, and if you've walked through a park in Paris, you've seen it being played. It is the quintessential French outdoor activity and a wonderful way to meet people and while away a few hours in almost any of Paris's parks.

In what we hope will be the first of regular WICE pétanque games, we will have a class at Place Dauphine, on Île de la Cité, on Wednesday morning, 17 May. After the class we hope everyone joins us for coffee (or lunch) at one of the local cafés or restaurants.

About the Instructors

Helen Whelan is the membership coordinator of WICE, and Rick Jones is the President of WICE. They are both great at Google search, and this makes them uniquely qualified to teach fellow WICE members how to play pétanque.
