France, Spain, and Italy are alive with cultural differences and often find themselves victim to the game of careless stereotyping. But, when it comes to wine, we need to be more serious … and thoughtful.

Barolo, Rioja, and the great wines of the Rhône can share chocolate, tobacco and forest floor flavors … but placed side by side, real and consistent differences emerge. This tasting is based on an exercise that Tom, our instructor, used to help professionals recognize the difference between the great earthy red wines of the world in blind tastings (and will prepare you well for the WICE Wine Olympics in June). The added bonus: excellent wines, hand-selected from the competing countries. These will be our guest stars at this tasting.

Instructor:
Thomas Boothe’s, extensive knowledge and passion for wine and his innovative teaching style have been fueled through work and study in a variety of wine-related fields.
