DegasAn important exhibition entitled “Degas et le Nu” opens at the Musée d’Orsay on March 13, 2012. It features Degas’ drawings of the nude from his early years, when he mastered academic drawing, through his maturity when light and composition became the focus of his pastels and monotype prints.

This class will explore Degas’ techniques, poses, and ideas for composing with the nude. How did Degas achieve the accuracy of his early drawings? How did his practice of monotype printmaking affect his work? What materials did he use? What were his influences? All these things and more will inspire this spring session’s work with a model in Jan Olsson’s studio.

Instructor:
Jan Olsson holds a Master of Fine Arts in Drawing and is an engaging teacher with many years of experience teaching. She is also a highly skilled practicing artist who exhibits internationally. See her website at http://janolssonart.com for more information.
