Our walk through the 4th arrondissement takes us through some of the most interesting historical areas of Paris, from Notre Dame on the Ile de la Cité – inhabited by the Romans long before Notre Dame was built – to the Place des Vosges via the Ile Saint-Louis.  We will learn about the tragic love affair of Héloïse & Abelard, the town hall on the Place de Grève, how the Ile-St-Louis was formed, who built the Place des Vosges and how it got its name and see many lovely mansions (hôtels particuliers), interesting façades, pocket gardens and maybe even a hidden cloister along the way.

Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes.  Those who wish may join the instructor after the tour for lunch.

Instructor: Lee Hubert, B.A. Boston University, French and English, is a long-time resident of Paris.
