Course Description:
Tricks of the Trade is a new course for the Creative Writing Program at WICE. Anyone interested in writing skills should be aware of the styles and nuances favoured by today's modern readers and the publishing industry. There are certain techniques to dialogue-writing, chapters, pace and language that are demanding and different. Being aware of them can help your own writing immensely and help you get to know what the modern reader likes while discovering your own style. A week-by-week trouble-shooting course to refresh and inspire you and give you the 'tools of the trade'.

Instructor: Dr Gretel Furner. Oxford University. PhD on the modern novel, University of the Saarland, Germany. Assoc. Professor of German, George Washington University.  Instructor, the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Since 2003 instructor at WICE in French Literature and History, the Migrant Soul series and Creative Writing.
