How important are your opening pages, your choice of narration-style, your plot outline? It’s best to sort these issues before you set out on your writing odyssey, learning what the modern reader likes (as well as publishers) while gaining confidence in your creativity.

Each week participants will explore a specific writing technique before trying their hand at that technique or bringing in one page from their existing project to share in class the following week.

About the Instructor: Gretel Furner is one of our most popular instructors. She grew up in England and has an M.A. from Oxford University and a Ph.D. on the modern novel from the University of the Saarland, Germany. She was an associate professor at George Washington University and an instructor at the Johns Hopkins School of International Studies. She lives between London and Paris and has been an instructor at WICE since 2003.
