"Drawing is the artist's most direct and spontaneous expression, a species of writing: it reveals, better than does painting, his true personality." Edgar Degas (1834 - 1917).

If you have ever said to yourself “I’d like to try drawing”, or “I want to get back to drawing but just don’t seem to find the time”, this class would be a great way to begin the New Year.

All are welcome to join, including beginners or anyone seeking the structure of weekly meetings, guidance and inspiration from an artist who is also an experienced teacher, as well as the conviviality of practising in a group.

Instruction includes a variety of drawing techniques and tools (ink, charcoal, pencil, and watercolor) in addition to the exploration of the many possibilities for subject matter in drawing, either through direct observation or through one’s imagination.
The registration fee for this class includes all materials.

About the Instructor: Prior to settling in Paris, Jan Olsson was awarded the Professional Fellowship in Painting from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in drawing. Examples of her student's work may be seen on her teaching blog. Jan's artwork has been exhibited in Paris’ most competitive juried exhibitions, and is included in both private and museum collections.
