Mavis NegroniIn this fast-paced 21st century world, social media opportunities play a significant role in getting your creative work seen. This course focuses on how to build a presence in the world of images and writing. We will explore Blogging, Instagram, Pinterest, Flickr, Twitter, Wikipedia, and Facebook—and which of these platforms work best to promote your photography and writing. We will also discuss the pros and cons of contributing to stock photography and of maintaining your own website.

Short projects in class will culminate in articles or blog posts and will include choosing subjects, storyboarding images, using words to best effect, and choosing the right platform for publication.

Students can expect to:

  • Learn about social media platforms
  • Learn about photographic and writing techniques to enhance creative impact
  • Move their work in new creative directions, especially by focusing on how to get work seen
  • Participate in a friendly critique session of their work

Suitable for all levels of photographer and writers, especially those interested in building a more public platform.
