Join us this spring as WICE continues its lively wine tasting series. We are introducing some new wine experts, as we continue to change the way we see and feel and taste wine.
We invite you to three interesting wine and food pairings, so we can see how 1 + 1 = so much more that the sum of the parts. Hélène Goble, raised in a Bordeaux wine-making family, will welcome us into her home to share hand-selected wines, carefully selected food to enhance the sensory experience, and plain old French charm.
We will also taste-travel to the Loire, Bordeaux, and the Southern Rhône for a practical and sensory education about these fascinating regions and terroirs. Our guide to for these tastings will be Thierry Givone, raised in a Burgundy winemaking family, whose passion for wine is contagious. We are fortunate that he is opening his private tasting room to WICE so we can learn about and enjoy these special wines.
The smelling and tasting process is very personal. We will refine our imaginative thinking and our ways of remembering the wine in a way that means something to us. But, if we get stuck, there will always be a metaphor so unique that it will stay in our memory for a long time. (“Think of a cigar factory burning down in an orchard of cherry trees.”). And, with those kinds of images, we will remember these wines for a very long time.
