Have you ever received an email from a "friend" abroad who has just been mugged, had all her money stolen, and needs your help to get back home?  If so, you may have been one of the 269,000 unlucky Americans who, in 2014 filed complaints reporting losses through Internet scams amounting to more than $800 million!  Adults are attractive targets for online skullduggery because of their financial status, their often naive attitudes about the Internet and social media issues, but also because many believe that they are savvy enough to recognize a scam when they see one.

Internet bad guys are endlessly inventive when it comes to ripping us off. WICE has invited Elizabeth Milovidov to bring us up to speed on the latest trends in Internet scamming including the dreaded identity theft. She will also give us tips to help us protect our privacy and the information that we put online.

About the Instructor

Dr. Elizabeth Milovidov Esq. is a lawyer, a law professor and an "e-safety" consultant.  She serves in the latter capacity for European Schoolnet and as a project coordinator for the European Network Against Bullying in Learning and Leisure Environments.  Her work with children includes founding Digitalparentingcoach.com.
