Recently reopened, the Hôtel de Lauzun is located on the eastern edge of île Saint-Louis.  It has passed through a number of owners and now belongs to the city of Paris. The best-known owner was the flamboyant Duke of Lauzun, famous for being the secret husband of the “Grande Mademoiselle”, Louis XIV’s first cousin.

This mansion is a splendid example of baroque architecture and one of the most beautiful mansions that retains its rich carved, painted, mirrored and gilded interiors from the time of Louis XIV. It was rented during the 19th century to famous writers such as Charles Baudelaire and Théophile Gautier, who formed their “Club des Hashischins” where they experimented with hashish.

Do not miss this must-see exceptional mansion that has recently been reopened.
