Le
Lapin Agile: Life Is a Cabaret! Le
Lapin Agile looks like a small countryside home atop the Montmartre hill.
In 1860 it became a cabaret featuring revues combining folk songs, poetry, and
comedy sketches. Since 1910 it has been the rendez-vous for many artists
including Verlaine, Renoir, and Picasso, who one day paid his meal with one of
his famous Arlequins paintings. Begin your visit at the Montmartre Museum, with
its collection of photos, paintings, posters and memorabilia showcasing the heyday
of Montmartre. Then join Yves and Frédéric Thomas, two generations of singers
and owners of the cabaret, for an exclusive look into the history of the Lapin
Agile. |
