You’re
invited to the opening cocktail receptions, or
vernissages,
where you have the opportunity to meet the artists, mingle
and enjoy wine and light snacks. Come celebrate art at
WICE! The
vernissages are free to members and
are open to non-members.
"
Vernissage"
literally means "varnishing." In the 19th century, "Varnishing
Day" was the day an exhibition was first opened to the
public. It was also the day when artists could make last
minute retouches or varnish their canvases. The term has
survived in France but now just refers to the formal opening
of an exhibition.
