Located in the Marais and dedicated to the history of Paris, the Musée Carnavalet presents a special exhibition about the 19th-century Parisians.

Through the works of Honoré Daumier, a French writer, cartoonist, painter and sculptor, discover with us the Paris Populaire of that period marked by the insurgency but also by the feast!

With humor and tenderness, Daumier depicts the Parisians’ difficult conditions of life: a poor population with precarious jobs in a crowded, unsanitary city where violence, banditry and prostitution are omnipresent. This world goes also alongside with the world of entertainment with the open air cafés, the guinguettes, the cabarets and the popular dance.

Come discover the mythical Paris Populaire!

Instructor: Sandra Cominotto became a guide/speaker following her studies in art history and archeology at la Sorbonne and École du Louvre. She has several years of experience working for Paris museums.
